The End of Polaroid Scavenger Hunts?

This past Sunday my group participated in this idea for a reverse caption photo scavenger hunt using Polaroid cameras. I told my group before we started that they are likely part of the last generation of youth to take part in true Polaroid scavenger hunts, now that the Polaroid folk have decided to stop making the cameras and that nifty square film that pops out and produces an (almost)instant photo on the spot. Instead, they are getting ready to offer a new gadget -- a small handheld printer that connects up with any digital camera and instantly produces color photos the size of a credit card. I suppose it's a usable substitute, but there was something nostalgic and retro about dragging around those clunky old cameras, popping out a photo and waving it in the air or blowing on it (neither of which did anything to speed up the processing) and then having a big space at the bottom to write a caption. I've read rumors that some other company may take over producing the film, but until I hear for certain it's either time to start stocking up on packs of film or list your old Polaroid camera on Ebay! -- Brian

Dude, I love the Polaroid. Just this last week we had an activity that required use of a Polaroid. I had to have Staples special order me some film.

I don't know what I'm going to do when the supply runs out.

What is the world going to do?

All those shopping mall Santa Clauses? All those Easter Bunnies?

And what will Andre 3000 sing about?

Will we never have anything to shake?
